MudHen Sprint October 10, 1999, Plaster City East

Results

The name of the game was to grab the lead as soon as the green flag waved and hold it all the way to the finish. However, Aaron "Air" Tuck really rubbed it in as lap after lap he steadily pulled away from the likes of Craig Smith and Jason Corfman. Each went on to win the Open and 4-stroke classes and finished second and third respectively.

The short and tilted 17-mile track was a tough one. The long pole line road, normally a sit-down-twist-the-throttle-and-hold-on had been transformed into a stand-up-and-bounce-through-the-chop created by the heavy use of the Border Patrol. The rest of the track was just rough enough that fatigue was equally created which resulted in not much passing unless there were mechanical or physical problems. Fortunately the mudhole at the finish was there to give the racers a refreshing splash.

In the
Senior class, "Elmo" Britt ran away and hid leaving the most exciting battle of the day to Mark "Pancakes" Brown and the "Cazador de Pollo" Jim Gavin. They were side by side, lap after lap until blisters took the fight out of Gavin.

ATV hot shoe, Eric Dollente, dashed into the lead leaving all the others pushing on his rope. Jason Sparks claimed fame by roosting the promoter in the mud hole and second overall with the points leader, Andy Anderson sloshing in third.

Jon Jackson's hiatus from Superlite racing ended with a thunderous victory as he dominated the field. High school scholar Jordan Saasta was second with his dad, James, a very, very, very distant third.

The
Mini Bikes race on an entirely different track. As a matter of fact, Chip Corfman and Threat Racing design three different tracks. One for the 50cc Novice, another for the 500 Experts and the 60cc riders and a long tough one for the go-fast guys, the 80cc racers. A two moto format is used with the racer with the lowest score taking home the honors.

In the 80cc Expert heats A.J. Hoffman scored a 2/1 on a borrowed bike to edge out Drew Williams who had 1/2 finishes. The 60cc kids went back and forth with the heat winners suffering from non-consistent runs leaving the door wide open for Matthew "Spud" Bucher (3/2) over National racer Trevor Reis (2/3). Suddenly Kyle Corfman has caught fire in the 50cc Expert class. He displayed his prowess with two first overalls in the heat races and the 50cc smiling rights.
