You Never Know What's Waiting Down the Road

Getting ready to go to the desert? Planning on coming home in a few days? Maybe a week?

Unfortunately, some people never make it home from the desert.

Too much alcohol. Too little caution. An unexpected change in the terrain. Instead of ending your ride back at camp, you might find you've ridden right into eternity, where the sound of two-strokes, four-strokes and VW-powered buggies will be replaced by the horrid sound of weeping and gnashing of teeth for those who never made prior arrangements to go to heaven. The beautiful desert sky will be gone and you'll be immersed in the blackest loneliness you ever knew, separated forever from the Creator of the world.

It won't matter how good you were, if you never accepted His invitation. It won't matter if you donated to the orphans or the homeless. It won't matter if you wrote letters to politicians or paid your bills on time.

All that will matter when you cross that line is whether you gave your life to Jesus while you had the chance.

If you're not ready to die: Get ready today. Before you leave for the desert. That way you know you'll go home at the end: Either to the house you left in the city or to a mansion in the sky.

Jesus, I know I am a sinner and I believe You died on the cross to save me. Please forgive me of my sins and come into my life today. I want to live my life on earth for You and I want to see You in heaven when I die. Amen.
