ThunderWorks ....... May 2000

From mild to wild, if your desert trailer, motorhome, boat, hot rod or personal vehicle needs a custom audio, video or security system, then ThunderWorks is the company to see.
With more than 35 years of combined experience, Allen Johnston and Don Fox started ThunderWorks just more than a year ago. What started as a hobby is now a full-service business. They strive to bring quality to their work that is second to none.
"The quality of our work is exemplary," Johnston says. "We do not let anything out of here that we are not proud of and want our name on. We are customer oriented and strive to bring the highest quality to our work. We emphasize doing it right, the first time."
ThunderWorks specializes in audio and video systems, security systems, auto and marine electrical, RVs, dune buggies and race vehicles. They have developed custom audio, wiring and dash systems and worked on cars for Herzog Racing, PPI, Spirit Racing, Stewart's Race Works, San Diego Eliminator and Chenowth Racing. They have developed systems, dashes and wiring harnesses for cars in the Southwest Cup Series, Winston West, the Trans Am Series and many more off-road teams.
For example, if you wanted an ultra-cool sound system for your desert trailer, where speakers can be hooked up outside and control panels drop out of the side of the trailer, they can do it. If you need a custom video entertainment center in your trailer to help baby-sit the kids on those windy desert days, they can do it. They can even install lights on the outside of your desert trailer to light up the night. Or if you want a waterproof system for your river boat, they can do it.
They have packages that they can recommend for those persons not knowing what they want or for the more knowledgeable, you can customize and chose exactly what you want. Each job comes with a computer generated system schematic and layout so that you will not be in the dark about which wire is what. And they have complete end user training and operating instructions so you will know which button does what.
ThunderWorks has a complete metal shop and wood shop and now employs seven people. They can do any custom job that you require, including complete wiring harnesses and custom consoles. And they are mobile, so they can come to you instead of you having to uproot your project to bring it to them.
"Our mobile van is fully stocked and can handle any job that you have," said Johnston. "So your project in process, can be left in process. If you can't bring your vehicle to our shop, we will bring our mobile installation shop to you."
One of the new products they are working on, The Sand Bar System, is an audio system that is completely portable for the times you want to take it out of your boat and put it on the sand bar. It is a multi-vehicle sound system that can go from dune buggy in the winter to boat in the summer and the beach in-between.
"When it comes to electrical or audio, we are problem solvers," said Johnston. "We have the highest quality craftsmanship. When you need it done right, the first time, by people who care about their work and your project, give us a call."
ThunderWorks is located at 11420 N. Woodside Avenue, Santee, CA 92071. They can be reached at (619) 596-1925. Their hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
