Double D RV has been serving the RV enthusiast community in San Diego County since 1989. Owner and founder, Don Clute has 20 years experience in the RV and travel trailer industry. After managing several area dealerships he started selling used RVs on consignment out of lot in Lakeside for about a year before moving to his present location in Santee.
Since then he has expanded his operation to include the sales and service of new travel trailers, fifth-wheels and toy haulers. In addition to a variety of family members who work with Don, a host of other employees help provide service and sales at Double D RV.
"We don't have a high pressure sales force," Don says. Customers are welcome to browse on their own or they may request a sales person show them around the lot. "We have a very good reputation for being fair with customers," Don said "and our prices are known to be very fair. We get a lot of referrals."
In addition to new and used recreational vehicles, they also provide a full service department staffed by a service manager and three technicians. They also carry a full line of accessories for installation on your trailers and motorhomes.
Currently they have nearly 40 used motorhomes and trailers for sale and over 90 new trailers. All used vehicles are guaranteed to work properly. Customers who are bringing in their vehicles to sell on consignment sit down and work out an agreeable contract for the sale, which includes the customer's net price, as well as any needed repairs and/or cleaning.
New models carried by Double D include Prowler, Tahoe, Lance Campers and Trail Lite, a lightweight enclosed travel trailer. Prices start at $6995 for a brand new Lance camper and $9995 for an 18-foot Toy Hauler. Unlike many other RV dealerships, all prices are posted on the vehicles, so you can see what the cost is while you're browsing the lot.
Owner Don Clute is a San Diego native and avid off road enthusiast with a fleet of ATVs and motorcycles as well as a Suzuki Samurai 4x4 and a boat. He and his family are year-round RVers with favorite campsites at Gordon's Wells, Ocotillo Wells, Glamis and the Colorado River.
