| THANKS Dear Sherri: Please accept my heartfelt thanks for publishing Mr. Roy Denner's article (SDOR, February 2000) regarding my bid for the California State Assembly 77th District seat. The support of your membership in no small way contributed to my primary election victory. Please make them aware of my personal gratitude. After being elected this November, I look forward to working with your constituents to help you realize your dreams of an off road park. | A few years ago
I worked an AHRMA race at Carlsbad put on by John Lefevre (Vintage
Husky), as I was on the injured list and couldn't race. At this
event we also ran a TT style race and some members of the San
Diego Flat Track Association rode. At the start line, Bob Nielsen
was calling out entrants names and he called Steve. This pulled
the cobwebs out of my memory and I said hello to Steve. He said
he remembered me from school and shook hands. Race got started
and I got busy and never had a chance to say much else. However
I did manage to let fellow race workers know "Hey, that's
the guy who flattracked homecoming in high school," bringing
laughs and comments like "How cool." If Steve hasn't been too spoiled by these new soft suspension, long travel new bikes, maybe he would be interested in checking out some of our events, even trying a vintage ride-reliving youth-all that. Best wishes to you both, DAVE SCOURFIELD Valley Center CA |
| HE CAN'T WAIT
TO SEND MONEY! SDOR: I've gotten three free issues so far and that's it! Call me a fool but I want to pay for a yearly subscription. Just let me know how much it is and I'll pay any way you want me too. I love the mag. I used to race back in the 70's with CMC and this is as good as the old Cycle News was back then. Now I just teach my 22-year-old and my five-year-old how to enjoy off road riding. Becuase of your mag, we went to Corral Canyon and loved it. Thanks, TOM SUGG Carlsbad |
