Tear-Down Time: It's a great concept for machinery. Especially machines that get beat and battered in the dirt and dust.

It's not, however, a great concept for people. Yet, we probably do it with far more frequency than anyone realizes. Instead of tearing down what really needs to be torn town and gone through: our worn off road vehicles; we tear down people-friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, strangers-with our words. We tear people down when we're rude, demanding, critical and insulting. We tear people down for a variety of reasons.

Maybe we've having a bad day and have no patience for anyone who gets in our way or makes a mistake.

Probably one of the biggest motivators in tearing others down is the subconscious effect it has on building ourselves up. If we can point out the glaring faults in others, doesn't that prove we're superior? Sometimes it's just easier to criticize than to compliment. It's easier to grumble and complain than to smile and be content. It's easier to take out our frustrations on the nearest person than to suffer silently.

Tear-down time: Remember, it's a concept that only works constructively on equipment. When it comes to dealing with people, focus on building up, rather than tearing down.

And I say to you, every careless word men shall speak, they shall render account for in the day of judgement. - Matthew 12:36

The Bible is filled with great wisdom for living, but not all its teachings can be lived up to just by setting your mind to it. Some of the guidelines take a supernatural strength. And the One who gives us that strength is also the One who provides us a ticket to heaven. Get yours today-all you have to do is ask. Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. - Romans 10:13
