SDORC to raffle $12,000 Banshee!

The members of the San Diego Motorcycle Dealers Association have agreed to donate a 2001 Yamaha Banshee to the San Diego Off Road Coalition to raffle off for the purpose of raising money to fight the closure of the Imperial Sand Dunes. The Banshee will be equipped with custom wheels and tires, performance suspension and exhaust, lighting kit and lots of other trick stuff.

Tickets will be available in December from San Diego Off Road Coalition members as well as shops around the county. You may also purchase tickets at SDORC meetings (check the Coming Events listings for more info). Tickets will also be on sale at SDORC's Off-Road Exposition in January and the drawing will take place at that event on Sunday, January 7.

San Diego "Off-Road Exposition"

The San Diego Off Road Coalition is pleased and excited to announce the San Diego Off-Road Exposition, to be held January 6-7, 2001 at Cajon Speedway in El Cajon.

With the help from Jim Kidrick, organizer and promoter of San Diego Bayfair's World Series of Power Boat Racing on Mission Bay (Thunderboat Races), San Diegans will have a chance to experience two fun-filled days of Off-Road excitement.

This will be an event geared for all members of the family. SDORC has planned an SUV course to test your skills with experienced 4x4 instructors. This course will be built to be exciting and fun for the novice driver with hills, holes, bridges, rocks, bumps, tilts and challenges. The kids will have plenty to do also, with a mini dirt bike track set up to test ride the newest bikes, balloon jumps, face painting and more. In addition to the interactive events, SDORC has planned for the San Diego Trials Riders to demonstrate their skill and agility. On display in the pit area will be off-road vehicles of all kinds. Along with other celebrities, Ivan "Ironman" Stewart will be there to show off his Pro Series Race Truck. There will be vendors showing and selling all the latest in off-road equipment including motorhomes, fifth wheels and trailers. And if all that isn't enough they will have door prizes and everyone who walks through the gate will have an equal chance at winning.

The San Diego Off Road Coalition is a non-profit organization dedicated to off-road recreation. Proceeds from this event go towards supporting Off-Road Recreation, so come show your support and have a great time doing it.

The San Diego Off Road Exposition promises to be the best event of its kind in San Diego County. Vendors seeking both information can contact SDORC Event Chairperson, Linda Berman at 1-888-836-7918 or e-mail [email protected]. Persons wishing to join the San Diego Off-Road Coalition can visit the SDORC website at www.sdorc.org and fill out an application on-line.
